The Entrepreneur Call
Do you ever love Facebook? I bet you do. One time or one way or another, something attracted you to it. At first I was actually reluctant to create a Facebook account thinking about its name: ‘Face’ book. I thought that it was only for people who’d like to flaunt all their faces (pictures) and whatever – and I was shy (being an introvert, I hate exposure, lol) But thanks to Mark Zuckerberg and his team for creating it. They are genius. I don’t care about the others who hate what they’re doing on facebook, I’m just not a basher, in fact, a pollyanna. 🙂 And our (me and facebook’s) love story begun in this simple plot.
Some years before, I was in front of my computer thinking what to do with my spare time, I decided to make an account on facebook, started connecting with friends whom I have not seen for years and decades. But alongside, during the days I have been enjoying it, I was also trying to figure out a means for Facebook to be more useful for my time than making “pa-cute” (displaying wit) with friends. Curiosity burns it! And so, I found the means. During that time, online store (e-commerce today) was starting a big bang. It attracts a lot of people to buy stuff online and the ‘commercios’ (businessmen) start to put their business in the ‘face’ of people who were just hanging about their time as well online and on Facebook.
I got an idea from there. I love clothes, I love fashion, I am girly. So I connected my piece on that. I settled my online store on Facebook and it got me blown. Left and right I got orders from customers. I do all the work by myself from posting, customer service, accounting, shipping. I was doing those on the side of doing my home tutoring biz. I was glad I have both and it kept me threading for couple of years.
Today, Facebook is getting more of a marketing jungle where you see marketing pinches on the newsfeed alternating with your friend’s personal posts. In fact, some 5 years ago it was hyped by people just for a digital social hub. More fun it is then than now they say. But as for any marketer, they will say that Facebook is getting exciting as it games itself to more flexibility advancing the opportunities for businesses and other cause.
And guess what?! Now, I don’t only own an e-commerce page on Facebook but got my other biz on a website (I work on having a physical store soon too!). Those gigs have just started because of that one boring day in front of my computer. And the rest is writing history.. Do you wanna know more about my online follow-throughs? I’d be glad to share them to you too! 🙂
